Diamond Valley Arts Council

Essential to a healthy, growing community are those elements which lead to a balanced quality of life for those who live in it.  The Diamond Valley Arts Council (DVAC),located in the San Jacinto Valley, whose motto is “Advancing the Arts – Creating Community” was founded in 2004 to assure that the arts and culture are an important facet of life in the community.  Our purpose is to promote awareness of and greater participation in the arts and culture.  We do that through educational programs, through San Jacinto Valley events and activities as well as through advocacy, networking and publicity for individual artists and for our organizational members.

Educational Programs

Our educational programs include afterschool art and music classes operated in association with the San Jacinto Unified School District and a Summer Program for Youth that incorporates a Strings Academy, Art Camp, Dance classes and theatrical workshops.  Other educational programs that have been offered are music master classes, art workshops, films and Osher Life-long Learning courses in conjunction with the University of California, Riverside Extension.

Events and Activities

Casey Abrams from Idyllwild, CA.

From nearby Idyllwild, American Idol finalist Casey Abrams’
May 2013 concert was sold out.

The Diamond Valley Arts Council also provides regular events and activities.  Every October we host a Festival of the Arts which showcases the talents of local visual artists, song writers, poets and playwrights. The third Sunday of each month we present ‘Music at the Center’ with performances which have included Emmy winning and nationally known musicians and vocalists, numerous jazz musicians, rock-a-billy bands, and groups playing various types of ethnic music.

Another primary function of the Diamond Valley Arts Council is to provide visibility and publicity for individual artists and for our affiliated organizational members.  Our Esplanade Arts Center (EAC) houses an art gallery where we have regular rotating exhibitions and meet-the-artist receptions for local artists.  The EAC also has a ‘black box’ theater where our organization members present theatrical works ranging from Shakespeare, musicals, to the classics and orchestral and choral concerts.  Through our presence on social media sites and our regular emailed newsletter we promote the events of our organizational members.  DSCF1104Our website’s Calendar of Event focuses on the arts and culture but also includes other types of community activities within the San Jacinto Valley.  We actively encourage and support new organizations as they strive to become established and we also serve an advocacy function with local agencies encouraging them to pursue art-in-public places ordinances.
